Introducing

Long-Lasting Results

Left untreated, your fence, deck, pergola, or other exterior wood structure will dry out. This will result in warping and cracking of the wood. Also, as it ages it will start to turn gray due to algae growth and eventually start to rot and become damaged.

We use high quality products paired with a proper maintenance plan to prolong the lifespan of your deck or fence. Our process will slow down any signs of aging, warping, cracking, and rotting allowing your wood to last and look great for years to come.

Janice Vranicar Google Review

Tim and his crew took on a MAJOR job with us. They literally had to "undo" what the other fence company did for us. Their quality, attention to detail and not stopping until it was done right is the reason I would HIGHLY recommend Leisure Time. Amazing work!

Lynn Salizzoni Google Review

Tim and his team were great. We used Leisure Time to restore our deck and pressure wash the house and roof. They removed the old, improperly applied stain, and the deck looks beautiful! Also, our roof was moldy and Tim treated it until it was perfectly clean. Highly recommend this business!

Preston Ashley Google Review

Leisure TIme Pressure Wash and the entire crew done a great professional job staining my fence. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for the same services.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Your fence or deck will never look as good as it does today. Every day that goes by it’s getting older which over time will continue to cause graying, warping, cracking, splitting, etc. The best time to stain your fence is as soon as possible. There are some certain limitations such as it needs to be below a certain moisture content so things like rain, humidity, and pressure washing can delay the process. Generally, there is no set time frame on how long you need to wait to stain your fence however you should wait for it to get to the proper moisture content for the stain product you’re using. You can typically stain a new fence or deck within 4-8 weeks of it being built.

No, there is no set time frame on how long you need to wait to stain your new fence or deck. If stained with a penetrating oil-based stain when it first gets to the proper moisture content it will slow down the drying process which will help prevent warping, cracking, splitting, etc. However, the downside to this, is if using pressure-treated wood, the initial service will not last as long as if you wait and it will need a maintenance coat between 2-3 years

Our process for prepping a deck can vary based on the type of wood, previous coatings, and age/condition of the wood. In general, we will treat the deck with our restoration process which will clean and kill any organic growth, remove dead cell wood, and brighten the wood to help open the pores. Once the wood dries we sand the surfaces of the deck before staining

There are several reasons to stain your exterior wood. One of the most common reasons is to protect your fence or deck and keep the wood from warping and cracking over time. Another great reason to stain your deck or fence is to enhance its appearance.

The longevity of the stain is going to vary depending on the type of stain, type of wood, amount of sun, foot traffic, and water. Chlorine & saltwater pools will shorten the life of your stain. Heavy foot traffic in places such as restaurants and other places of business will also shorten the life of stain. When set up on one of our Leisure Time Club plans we will be able to provide a lifetime protection warranty and keep your fence or deck protected for years to come.

There are hundreds of different types of products available and choosing a stain for your project can sometimes be difficult. Generally we only use Expert Professional Wood Care oil based stains or Sherwin Williams Superdeck 9600 series solid stain. Through our years of work and research we have chosen those two products as they are quality products backed by great service from the company. Generally we will use Expert Stain & Seal stains on most projects unless it’s a situation that requires a solid stain, thats when we switch to the 9600 series.

In general it’s best to use the same product as what you have or strip the current product back to bare wood first. For all of our decks we prefer to strip and start fresh with our products to maintain best results.

Stains are generally designed to be used on exterior wood such as decks, fences, pergolas, and log cabins whereas paints aren’t ideal for these surfaces. Most stains will have a penetrating formula designed to allow the wood to breathe while paints form a film over the wood and could trap moisture inside. Paints will also peel and flake over time.

There are many variables when it comes to the longevity of your stain. Type of stain, amount of foot traffic, and amount of sunlight are some of the bigger factors. Most decks require some sort of maintenance cleaning/staining every 1-2 years.

Sunlight, sprinklers, and type of stain are some of the biggest factors when it comes to how long your fence stain will last. Generally with cleaning between the 1-2 year mark, you will need to do a “maintenance coat” at the 3-4 year mark to keep it fully protected and looking

Our process for prepping a fence can vary based on the age of the wood as well as previous coatings. For a bare fence, we will do a restoration cleaning which will clean and kill any organic growth, remove dead cell wood, and brighten the wood to help open the pores.

Before each job we do a property inspection and determine what we will need to protect from stain and stain overspray. We use a combination of plastic and drop cloths to cover areas that should not get overspray. If you have a shared fence or house close to the neighbor we will require access to their yard as well to ensure we protect everyone’s property around us. We commonly use a “water masking” technique when using oil based stains to keep areas such as concrete and brick clean while staining.

While carpenter bees

can be a challenge, keeping your wood stained and protected with an oil based stain can help deter them. We also have an additive that can go into the stain to help prevent them longer. We recommend retreating with the citronella additive every 6 months for best results.

Transparent stains will contain the least amount of pigment with those amounts increasing more as you go to semi-transparent, semi-solid, and solid. The more pigment the less of the wood grain you will see as well as imperfections. We recommend Transparents or semi-transparents on newer wood and semi solids on older wood. We generally only use a solid stain when a previous solid coating has already been applied or when it is an HOA requirement.

In general we do not use or recommend using a clear sealer unless it’s in an area that does not get sun. On a fence or deck a clear sealer does not have any pigment, which is what helps protect your wood from UV rays.
